Hello friends, For years, I have been working with teachers to bring thinking into their math classrooms. However, the biggest challenge to this has always been balancing rich, student-centered learning with the demands of getting through the curriculum. I am constantly running up against teachers who find themselves too constrained by their curriculum to implement BTC or other student-centered pedagogies. I am excited to announce that, to solve this problem, Building Thinking Classrooms and Innovamat have started a collaboration—to bring together research-backed pedagogical strategies with thoughtfully designed curriculum and instructional resources. With BTC’s 14 practical teaching strategies, teachers have been transforming their classrooms into dynamic spaces where students think, reason, and explore mathematical concepts. Now, with Innovamat’s expertise in developing structured yet flexible curricular tools, educators can implement these thinking-centered approaches without compromising content goals, instructional clarity, or the curriculum. Through this collaboration, we are workign to:
providing educators with structured support to bring BTC principles into their everyday teaching
ensuring students engage deeply in mathematics while covering the necessary curriculum
equipping schools and districts with tools that align pedagogy and content seamlessly
This collaboration is rooted in our shared belief that math learning should be driven by student thinking—encouraging problem-solving, discussion, and deeper understanding rather than passive memorization. If you want to learn more about this collaboration and to find out how to bring BTC, Innovamat, or both to your teachers see: https://www.innovamat.com/en/btcxinnovamat To register yourself or your teachers for upcoming events – including an upcoming webinar and in person events – see: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_IoNEsUdYQgiSEXYcbcxzJw. I look forward to seeing what this collaboration can produce for our learners. Best.
