Building Thinking Classrom Students: Verbs vs. Nouns
For a very long time now, we have been obsessed with teaching math content (the nouns). A consequence of this obsession is that we have forgotten to develop math competencies (the verbs). In this talk, I explore the consequences of this neglect and explore some of the many benefits of shifting our thinking classroom instruction to focus more on developing student competencies and the implications this will have for building your thinking classroom.
